CORDE Coffee Cups!

UPDATE: These cups are being distributed via your team admins to those who selected one. ENJOY!

It’s winter and the cold weather calls for hot drinks!

We could really benefit from having reusable coffee cups. There are a lot of single use coffee cups around that end up in landfill. It’s also a great way to share the CORDE brand while out and about. An awesome Collective Impact idea from Angus during this Plastic Free July.

We know that everyone will have their own preference, so we’ve got two different kinds of cup options for you to choose from:

The UNITED Cup (A) is a large 550ml double-wall, vacuum insulated stainless steel tumbler (which still fits nicely in a cup-holder) with a classy powder-coated finish which will keep drinks hot for hours. This Himalayan style cup is BPA-free and has a secure push-on lid with a splashproof sliding closure.

The CORDE Cup (B) is a smaller 350ml cup (ideal for the espresso drinker). It’s a double-wall, vacuum insulated stainless steel cup with a smart powder-coated finish. This Swiss Peak branded design is BPA-free, will keep drinks hot for hours and features a secure screw-on lid with a push-button activated flip closure which is spring loaded for smooth, effortless operation.

If you’ve already got a cup you love, no worries!

We’ll only order one if you choose one in this poll. So jump in below and take your pick!

CCNZ Awards – CORDE wins for Eastman Bridge!

Last Friday night a number of the team attended the Canterbury/Westland CCNZ awards. It was a great night and showcase the best of what Canterbury and Westland Contractors have been doing over the last year.

It was with great jubilation that CORDE won the Category A Award for Projects under $500k for our work on the Eastman Wetland Bridge (see photos below). This bridge, which spans the Cashmere Stream, provides heavy vehicle access and is an integral part of the new Te Kuru walking tracks in the Hoon Hay stormwater basin. Our dedicated team completed the project within an impressive 11-week timeframe. The judges commended our delivery approach, highlighting the exceptional attention to detail and quality of craftsmanship throughout the project. This award is a testament to our team’s efforts and reflects our ongoing commitment to connecting communities through our work.

Congratulations to Andrew Loader, Shaun Mayhew, Jonathan Newton, Richard Dodd, Austin Taylor, Scott Jones and Malachi Hill and many others who all worked on the project.

A New Chapter Ahead for CORDE

On behalf of the Board at CORDE, we want to acknowledge David Wilson and his decision to resign as CEO and outline the steps we are taking to ensure a smooth leadership transition over the coming months.

Firstly, we want to recognise and congratulate David for his hard work and impressive accomplishments in leading a transformative chapter in CORDE’s history over the past 12 years.

Since joining in April 2012, David has overseen our growth from a team of 176 to over 360 members. Under his leadership, CORDE transitioned from financial losses to profitability, with revenue increasing from $40 million to more than $100 million annually.

Of course, these achievements were not David’s alone. Through his commitment to innovation, sound financial management, and a people-first approach, David has built a talented team of industry leaders and fostered a strong, cohesive culture within CORDE.

Reflecting on his time with us, David expressed gratitude toward the CORDE team and the remarkable individuals who have driven the company’s success. He shared, “It’s been an incredible journey with CORDE, and I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together. The time has come for me to step back, spend time with family, and look toward the next adventure.”

On behalf of the Board and the wider team, we thank you, David, for your guardianship and for helping to establish CORDE as the company it is today.

David will continue to lead CORDE through until December 2024, and we look forward to formally celebrating his contributions at our annual Awards Night.

The Board has now initiated a recruitment process to find CORDE’s next CEO. While this search is expected to take several months, we have appointed Mathew Havill as Acting CEO to ensure continuity and stability during the transition. Mathew has held a number of executive roles, has significant industry experience in New Zealand and abroad, and we have every confidence in his ability to manage successfully through this period.

Thank you all for your continued hard work and commitment. Please join us in honouring David’s legacy and in supporting the senior leadership team and Acting CEO as we continue our journey of growth, with the same dedication to our team and values that define us as CORDE.
